About Your Role:
As the Assistant Buyer, you will partner closely with the Marketplace Buyer to manage the entire vendor and product lifecycle. You will support the Marketplace Buyer in curating a world-class vendor network while ensuring the operational health of our product catalog. This is a dual-impact role: you will assist in the strategic sourcing and market analysis that keeps our Marketplace trending, while also owning the critical operational tasks that ensure our vendors are set up for success. You are the "right hand" to the buying team, ensuring that every gift meets our high standards for quality and ROI.
Your Focus
Vendor Management & Communication
- Relationship Support: Act as a primary point of contact for vendor partners, assisting with onboarding, performance tracking, and the collection of updated product information.
- QBR Coordination: Support the Buyer in preparing data and collateral for Business Reviews, helping to identify opportunities for margin improvement or SKU expansion.
- Imagery & Content: Collaborate with vendors to ensure product photography and descriptions meet Sendoso’s editorial standards for a premium customer experience.
Product & Market Analysis
- Trend Spotting: Conduct regular market research to identify emerging product categories and competitive white spaces.
- Performance Tracking: Analyze sales data and customer feedback to help the Buyer determine which items to feature in seasonal campaigns and which to sunset.
- Assortment Refresh: Assist in reviewing vendor catalogs to suggest "evergreen" additions that align with current customer demand shifts.
Operational Excellence
- Catalog Maintenance: Own the end-to-end process for product onboarding, SKU updates, and pricing adjustments within the Marketplace platform.
- Cross-Functional Support: Work closely with Customer Success and Operations to resolve product-specific inquiries and support custom "Branded Marketplace" requests.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for operational efficiency and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement more effective sourcing workflows.
Who You Are:
- An Aspiring Merchant: You have a natural intuition for what makes a great gift and a desire to learn the "why" behind merchandising and assortment planning.
- A Meticulous Coordinator: You understand that "the magic is in the details." You can manage a high volume of vendor data without losing accuracy.
- A Proactive Communicator: Whether you’re delivering constructive feedback on product imagery or coordinating a custom cupcake send, you do so with professional polish and clarity.
Experience & Skills
- 1-3 years of experience in retail buying, e-commerce merchandising, or sourcing.
- Analytical Mindset: Comfortable using Excel/Google Sheets and similar reporting tools to find the "story" in the data.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple workflows and competing priorities simultaneously.
- Adaptability: You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are comfortable "popping in" to support the team whenever unexpected needs arise.
- Growth Mindset: A passion for learning the business of gifting and a desire to grow your career within merchandising.
